Dustin Lance Black, the screenwriter behind Milk, and British Olympic diver Tom Daley are getting married!
The handsome couple have shared their engagement news publically with a notice in the births, marriages and deaths section of The Times of London. Recently, British actor Benedict Cumberbatch also chose to announce his engagement with a formal notice in the same paper.
The engagement notice is titled, “Mr T.R. Daley and Mr D.L. Black,” and proclaimed, “The engagement is announced between Tom, son of Robert and Debra Daley of Plymouth, and Lance, son of Jeff Bisch of Philadelphia and Anne Bisch of Lake Providence.”
Black and Daley did not include a prospective date for the nuptials. They have been a couple for almost two years. Daley, who came out in 2013 with a personal YouTube video, has recently said he’d like to settle down and be married. Daley also said he hoped to have “at least three” children.
In Daley’s 2013 coming out video he shared he had fallen for a mystery man. Many believe Black, who is twenty years Daley’s senior, was the man in question. At the time, Daley coyly said:
…My life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe, and everything just feels great. And that someone … is a guy. It did take me by surprise a little bit. It was always in the back of my head that something like that could happen. But it wasn’t until spring this year that something just clicked and felt right.
Happily, Daley said he had received an outpouring of support following coming out. Daley continued in the video:
People will think, What will your dad say? He always said to me that as long as you’re happy, then I’m happy. And right now I couldn’t be happier. And my mum’s been so supportive. I can count the number of people told on one hand. All my friends and family that I’ve told have been so supportive.
