Award season is in full swing and we’re delighted to announce further nominations for OUTtv programming.
Russell T. Davies Channel 4 original series, Cucumber and Banana have each received a GLAAD Media Awards nomination in the category of Outstanding TV Movie or Mini-Series.
Cucumber and Banana were initially envisioned as the spiritual follow-up to cult-classic Queer as Folk and were announced in November 2013 along with the web series Tofu. The titles of all three shows come from a scientific study into the male erection which divided the erection into a hardness scale consisting of tofu, peeled banana, banana, and cucumber; upon reading the study, Davies remarked that “right there and then, I knew I had my drama”.
Cucumber explores the passions and pitfalls of 21st-century gay life for Henry, Lance and their family and friends. Banana, offers an intriguing and often outrageous peek into the individual lives, loves and losses of a range of characters who are only glimpsed in Russell T Davies‘ Cucumber.
Two GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held, one in Los Angeles on April 2 at The Beverly Hilton and the other in New York on May 14 at the Waldorf Astoria.
Cucumber returns to our schedule on Sunday, Feb 28 at 10pm ET/PT.
